The annual event is designed to help families and individuals in need enjoy a warm and meaningful Christmas meal. This year, organizers will be giving away 200 hams, along with one bag of potatoes and one bag of rolls per household. All food items are provided free of charge.

The giveaway will take place at Terrell’s Market in Mount Pleasant, beginning Saturday, Dec. 20, at 11 a.m. Distribution will continue until all items are gone, and organizers encourage those interested to arrive early.

The event is open to anyone who may be struggling during the holiday season or who knows someone who could use extra support. Community members are also welcome to pick up a ham and accompanying food items on behalf of neighbors, friends or family members who are unable to attend in person.

Now in its sixth year, the Helping Hams Christmas Giveaway is made possible through donations and the generosity of local residents who share a desire to make the season brighter for others. Organizers say the goal goes beyond providing food, aiming also to remind recipients that they are seen, valued and supported within the community.

Residents are encouraged to help spread the word to those who may not hear about the event on their own, helping ensure the meals reach those who need them most.
