$30,000 in funding available for central Utah entrepreneurs

EPHRAIM — Snow College’s GRIT Center for Rural Entrepreneurship has opened applications for the 2026 Everyday Entrepreneur Pitch Competition, offering $30,000 in cash awards to help early-stage businesses launch and grow across central Utah.

The competition is open to Snow College students as well as community entrepreneurs who live in Juab, Sanpete, Sevier, Millard, Piute and Wayne counties. In addition to funding, participants will receive business education, mentorship, and access to a regional network of entrepreneurial resources.

State Bank of Southern Utah has been named the headline sponsor for the 2026 competition and will provide a $10,000 grand prize. Additional funding includes a $10,000 grant from the National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship, matched by $5,000 from the Utah Small Business Development Center and $5,000 from Snow College’s GRIT Center, bringing total available prize money to $30,000.

“As a rural-serving institution, we see firsthand the barriers many aspiring business owners face,” said Jay Olsen, Snow College vice president of technical education and workforce development. “Through the Everyday Entrepreneur program, we are committed to providing the resources, mentorship, and opportunities that help students and community members turn their ideas into successful businesses.”

College officials said Snow College is making a significant investment in the program by providing campus facilities, technology, administrative support, and dedicated staff resources. The GRIT Center is also partnering with local business leaders, faculty, alumni, and community organizations to expand mentorship opportunities, particularly for rural and underrepresented entrepreneurs.

Entrepreneurs selected for the program will take part in workshops and receive one-on-one coaching designed to help refine business ideas, develop growth strategies, and prepare for pitching. Finalists will present their business concepts before a panel of judges, competing for a share of the $30,000 in cash awards.

Applications for the 2026 Everyday Entrepreneur Pitch Competition are due by Jan. 9. Additional information about eligibility, program requirements, and the application process is available through the GRIT Center.

Snow College, founded in 1888, serves more than 5,000 students through campuses in Ephraim and Richfield and a learning center in Nephi. The college emphasizes affordable, workforce-aligned education and community partnerships to support economic development throughout central Utah.
