By Staff | Feb 12, 2025

Administration, faculty, staff, and students gathered in the Capitol Rotunda in Salt Lake City yesterday for “Snow Day on the Hill.” This annual event provides an opportunity for legislators to get to know Snow College and what it offers the state of Utah. Faculty and staff from each of the five academic divisions, along with the athletic department, Concurrent Enrollment team and GRIT Center, created displays to highlight the unique opportunities available to Snow College students.

Snow College students, faculty, staff, and administrators gathered at the Utah State Capitol on Feb. 5 for the annual “Snow Day on the Hill,” an event designed to showcase the college’s contributions to higher education in Utah. Held in the Capitol Rotunda, the event offered state legislators an up-close look at the unique opportunities Snow College provides to its students and the broader community.

Representatives from Snow’s five academic divisions, the athletic department, concurrent enrollment team, and the GRIT Center set up interactive displays highlighting the diverse programs and resources available at the college. Students, dressed proudly in Snow’s signature badger blue and orange, engaged with lawmakers and state leaders, sharing personal stories about their educational journeys. They spoke about graduating debt-free, gaining valuable work experience, and receiving personalized support from faculty to prepare for their futures.

The enthusiasm was palpable as many legislators shared their own connections to Snow College, recounting fond memories and experiences tied to the institution. “I am incredibly proud of Snow College, and our annual Snow Day on the Hill is a wonderful opportunity for legislators and others to witness firsthand the excellence of our institution,” said Snow College President Stacee Yardley McIff. “Our outstanding faculty, dedicated staff, and exceptional students represent us with distinction. We are fortunate to have several alumni serving in the legislature, along with many valued friends and supporters. Their continued advocacy is so meaningful to us, and we look forward to working together to ensure we meet the evolving needs of our students.”

The event’s mission was clear: to strengthen relationships with policymakers and stakeholders while emphasizing Snow College’s vital role in Utah’s higher education system. Through heartfelt stories and compelling presentations, attendees left with a renewed appreciation for Snow College’s mission and its lasting impact on students’ lives.
