The Bar D Wranglers, a renowned Western music group from Durango, Colorado, return to the Casino Star Theatre in Gunnison for two unforgettable shows on November 8.
GUNNISON — The unmistakable sounds of the Old West will once again fill the historic Casino Star Theatre as the Bar D Wranglers saddle up for two performances on Saturday, bringing their signature blend of cowboy harmony, lightning-fast picking, and homespun humor back to Central Utah.
A beloved tradition for many local fans, the Wranglers will take the stage for shows at 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Their upbeat, family-friendly program showcases everything from toe-tapping instrumentals to tender cowboy ballads, all delivered with the easygoing banter that has made them one of the most popular Western groups in the country.
Now in their 55th year, the Bar D Wranglers trace their roots to the Bar D Chuckwagon in Durango, Colorado, founded in 1969 by Cy Scarborough along with Buck Teeter and Jim Blanton. Since then, the group has entertained millions of visitors at their summer home stage and across concert halls nationwide.
Today’s all-star lineup — familiar to Casino Star audiences — features Gary Cook, a two-time national flatpicking champion and Colorado Country Music Hall of Fame inductee, on lead guitar and harmony vocals; Matt Palmer on fiddle and baritone; David Bradley on lead vocals and yodeling; and Joel Racheff on upright bass and tenor. Together, they continue the Wranglers’ long-standing tradition of polished musicianship, four-part harmony, and lighthearted cowboy comedy refined over decades of performing at the Chuckwagon’s nightly summer show.
Tickets are on sale now at casinostartheatre.com. Matinee tickets are $25 for Premiere and $20 for Classic seating, while evening tickets are $30 Premiere and $25 Classic.
