Vocalocity, Utah’s premier a cappella group, will bring its “It’s Almost Christmas” tour to the Casino Star Theatre in Gunnison on Monday, December 1, 2025, at 7 p.m.

GUNNISON — The holiday season in Central Utah will ring a little brighter this year as Vocalocity, one of the state’s premier a cappella ensembles, brings its “It’s Almost Christmas” tour to the historic Casino Star Theatre. The one-night-only performance will take place at 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 1.

Known for their polished harmonies, inventive vocal arrangements and charismatic stage presence, the six-member group has built a devoted following throughout Utah and beyond. Their annual Christmas tour has become a beloved tradition for many fans, blending festive classics, modern holiday hits, and sacred selections — all performed with nothing but the human voice.

Founded in 2007, Vocalocity has toured extensively across the country, earning praise for their dynamic sound and engaging performances. Audiences familiar with groups like Pentatonix will recognize the style: driving percussion, deep bass lines, soaring melodies, and rich choral layers created entirely a cappella. The result is a full, vibrant sound that feels both nostalgic and refreshingly contemporary.

Their stop in Gunnison marks the only Central Utah performance on a five-state holiday tour, offering local families and music lovers a rare chance to experience a world-class a cappella concert without leaving the region. The intimate setting of the Casino Star Theatre — Utah’s oldest operational movie house — promises an upclose, immersive evening of holiday music.

Vocalocity’s members include Jake Tesch, Amanda Tesch, Sara Burton, Jason Tesch, Grant Zabriskie and Bret Nicolaysen. Together, their musicianship and unified ensemble blend have earned them a strong online following. Fans can enjoy their recordings on Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon Music and YouTube. One of their most popular videos, “A Wicked Christmas,” showcases the group’s signature mix of humor, creativity, and vocal precision in a whimsical tale of a young reindeer teaming up with Santa to save the holiday.

Tickets for the Dec. 1 performance are on sale now at casinostartheatre.com. Premiere reserved seats are $25, and Classic reserved seats are $20. Because the show is limited to one night, early reservations are recommended for families, couples, and anyone hoping to kick off the Christmas season with an uplifting evening of live music.

The concert is made possible thanks to generous support from local and regional sponsors, including Julia and Roland Christensen, Gunnison Valley Hospital, Ensign Engineering, Christensen Arms, Redmond Minerals, State Bank of Southern Utah, Jeanette and Robert Andersen, Dr. Bevan and Gay Bastian, Marie and Kevin Nay, Dr. Richard Nay, Suzanne and Jim Sanders, and additional support from Creative West and the National Endowment for the Arts. Their contributions help make high-quality performing arts accessible to communities throughout Central Utah.

The event also reflects the continuing mission of the Casino Star Theatre Foundation, which has stewarded the iconic movie house since its establishment in 2004. As the oldest continuously operating cinema in Utah — and possibly the entire western United States — the theatre now hosts touring concerts, weekly films, school outreach programs, community workshops, and public art projects that enrich Gunnison Valley and beyond.

Additional spring concerts and live events will be announced soon. For updates or to purchase tickets, visit casinostartheatre.com or follow the Casino Star Theatre on Facebook.
