The Utah System of Higher Education announced record-breaking completion rates today, with Snow College making a significant contribution to this achievement with a remarkable 17% increase in completions in 2024.

Ephraim institution plays key role in state’s higher education success

Utah’s higher education system is celebrating record success this year, and Snow College is at the heart of it. The Utah System of Higher Education announced this week that college completion rates across the state have reached all-time highs, with Snow College leading the charge through a remarkable 17% increase in completions during 2024.

The USHE report highlighted the essential role that community colleges play in advancing student achievement. “Community colleges play a critical role in this success, with 52% of their transfer students earning bachelor’s degrees at four-year institutions,” the release stated.

At Snow College, that success is powered by a student-centered approach. The smaller campus setting allows for more personalized attention, hands-on learning, and mentorship, which in turn helps students build a strong academic foundation. When Snow graduates transfer to four-year institutions, they do so with confidence and preparation for the challenges of upper-division coursework.

“These results reflect what Snow College does best,” said Snow College President Stacee Yardley McIff. “At Snow, we take great pride in offering programs that not only meet the state’s most critical needs but also empower our graduates to build successful, meaningful careers. This year’s record completion results are a testament to our students’ determination and the dedication of our faculty and staff who support them every step of the way.”

In addition to boosting completion numbers, Snow College continues to shine in providing career-aligned programs that match Utah’s most in-demand fields. According to USHE, the top certificate programs statewide include Nursing Assistant, Commercial Driving, EMT Paramedic, Electrician, and Phlebotomy — all of which are currently available or soon to be offered at Snow.

Beyond certificates, Snow College also boasts strong programs in Nursing, Psychology, Business, Finance, and Computer Science, giving students the flexibility to either transfer to a four-year university or step directly into the workforce. These offerings not only open doors for Snow students but also strengthen Utah’s economy by supplying a pipeline of skilled, well-prepared workers.

The college’s focus on affordability and opportunity remains central to its mission. Founded in 1888 by Utah pioneers, Snow College now serves more than 5,000 students on its Ephraim and Richfield campuses, with an additional learning center in Nephi. The institution is committed to helping students graduate debt-free, gain real-world experience, and prepare for lifelong success.

As Utah celebrates record-breaking progress in higher education, Snow College continues to embody the values that have guided it for more than a century — community, opportunity, and a personal commitment to every student’s success.
