EPHRAIM — A full calendar of music, dance, theater, and visual arts will take center stage this April as Snow College presents its annual spring lineup through the Fine Arts Division and the Eccles Center for the Performing Arts.

The month-long series features a wide variety of performances and exhibits, showcasing the talents of student artists while also welcoming guest performers and celebrating longtime contributors to the college’s arts programs.

The season begins April 1-2 with Chamber Music Concerts at 7:30 p.m. in the Jorgensen Concert Hall. These free performances highlight student ensembles performing a mix of duets, trios, and larger group works, offering audiences an intimate and diverse musical experience.

On April 7, the spotlight shifts to jazz with “Latin Nights,” featuring the Snow College Jazz Big Band under the direction of Sarah Morrow. The evening will include performances by the “Snow Hot Seven” Dixieland Band and special guest Yamil Conga, known for blending Latin rhythms with jazz, gospel, and country influences.

Percussion takes center stage April 8 during the Percussion Studio Recital in the Larsen Recital Hall. This free concert promises a high-energy evening highlighting the versatility and technical skill of Snow College’s percussion students.

The Snow College Orchestra will present “The American Frontier” on April 10 at 7:30 p.m., conducted by Brent Smith. The concert will explore themes of the American West through a sweeping orchestral program.

Also on April 10 — and continuing throughout the month — audiences can enjoy the college’s improv comedy troupe, “Badgers in a Bathtub,” performing select Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. in the Eccles Center’s Black Box Theatre. Known for its spontaneous, audience-driven humor, the long-running group offers an affordable night out at just $1 admission.

Mid-month highlights include the “ICONS” Spotlight Concert on April 16, celebrating legendary artists such as Michael Jackson and Carole King, followed by a special tribute performance on April 17 honoring Vance Larsen. The concert will recognize Larsen’s 37 years of service and his role in shaping the college’s music program, including the development of its Bachelor of Music degree.

On April 20, two unique events will be featured: a Production Showcase at 5:30 p.m., highlighting student work in technical and creative production fields, and the Student Composers Concert at 7:30 p.m., presenting original works by emerging composers.

Choral music returns April 24 with “Home Town Praise,” conducted by Michael Huff. The concert will feature locally inspired selections and showcase the college’s new concert organ.

Dance enthusiasts can enjoy the Spring Dance Concert April 24 at 7:30 p.m. and April 25 at 2 p.m. in the Kim Christison Theatre, featuring performances by the Snow College Dance and Ballroom Companies.

The month concludes April 30 with the Bachelor’s Degree Convocation, marking an important milestone for graduating students.

In addition to performances, several art exhibits will be on display throughout April. The Eccles Center Annex will feature works by Carlee Whitaker (April 1-3) and Andrea Cabria (April 6-24). The Snow College Art Gallery in the Humanities Building will host an “Artists in Residence/Works in Progress” exhibit through April 29, while the Altspace Gallery will showcase work by Benjamin Beall (April 1-10) and Miriam Adams (April 13-30).

Organizers note that a portion of ticket sales from Fine Arts events supports scholarships for performing arts students, helping sustain future generations of artists.

With a wide range of free and ticketed events available, community members are encouraged to attend and experience the rich artistic offerings at Snow College this spring. Tickets can be purchased online or by contacting the Eccles Center box office.
