1933 – 2022

Jack Douglas Barton, 88, passed away December 3, 2022, with his wife, Donna of 69 years and family by his side.

Jack was born December 23, 1933. He and his parents Ted and Opal Mower Barton and his sister Edlin, lived for many years in Boneta and Fairview, Utah. He graduated from the University of Utah with a teaching degree and his Masters Degree from Utah State. He was an outstanding athlete and had state titles in track and field. He won 26 boxing matches.

Jack taught history and coached at Altamont High school for 35 years. Jack worked in his early life as a pipeline foreman. He was a rancher and loved all animals, especially horses. His Belgian horses were a special part of his life. He loved Country music and played many instruments.

He was devoted to his family and loved serving his Lord and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was an ordinance worker in the temple for 11 years, served a stake mission and a mission with Donna to Nauvoo.

Jack is survived by his wife, Donna; children, Cindy Barton, John (Patricia) Barton; Lloyd (Kalynn) Barton; David (Judy) Barton; Sabra, (James) Cunningham; Katy (Corey) Sayler; a sister, Edlin (Duane) Monk; sister-in-law, Nancy Hansen; 32 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughters: Donna Lisa Barton, Ann Checora; and a grandson: Alex Calhoun.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at 12:00 noon at the Altamont Stake Center. There will be a viewing on Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the Hullinger Mortuary and from 10:30-11:45 a.m. Saturday, at the church.
