Aaron LaMar Hamilton, age 91, died of natural causes on December 17, 2021, surrounded by his son David’s family at LaMar’s home in Sunland, California. LaMar was born March 7, 1930, in Washington, Utah; son to Alvin Hamilton and Elva (Sproul) Hamilton.

LaMar graduated from North Sanpete High School, class of 1948. At age 18, LaMar helped his father build a red brick home in Fairview Canyon. After graduation, LaMar worked at Zions National Park and afterward, he attended Snow College. Then LaMar served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Germany. Afterward, LaMar joined the US Army and worked in Counter Intelligence Corps. While stationed back east, he met Ursuline Sherbs; and they were married three weeks later on December 31, 1954, in Baltimore, Maryland. A year later their first son Alan was born. Then LaMar and Ursuline moved to Los Angeles, California, and had four more children. LaMar graduated from the University of California with a bachelor’s degree in business. LaMar worked for State Farm Insurance Company in Sunland-Tujunga, California, as an insurance agent throughout his career, and retired at age 65. At age 50, LaMar and Ursuline divorced. Lamar met Dan Nelson in 1980 and they became companions and remained forever friends up to Lamarás passing. Lamar also was a companion to Cristian Gold for a few years who has remained a steadfast friend to Lamar to the end as well.

LaMar would like to be known for his integrity and honesty. He taught his children the value of hard work, careful money management and frugal living.

In addition to his parents, LaMar was predeceased by his ex-wife Ursuline (Sherbs) Hamilton of Fountain Green, Utah; and youngest daughter, Marla Hamilton, of Payson, Utah. Brothers that have passed on include Rowland, Darwin, Myron and Tony Hamilton. Predeceased sister-in-laws include Nadine (Samples) Hamilton, Evelyn (Jensen) Hamilton, Barbara (Madsen) Hamilton, and Joan (Croweher Nielsen) Hamilton. Surviving siblings include Larkin Hamilton, Mary (Hamilton) Denna and her husband Ervin Denna, Bonnie (Hamilton) Nielson and her husband Richard Nielson, and sister-in-laws LaFaye (Shepard) Hamilton and Marianne (Franke) Hamilton, all who reside in Utah. Survivors also include Daniel Nelson, Cristian Gold, son Alan Hamilton, daughter Erline (Hamilton) Lindberg and son-in-law Paul Lindberg, son Daniel Hamilton, twin David Hamilton and his wife Laura (Teaford) Hamilton. LaMar is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 12 surviving great-grandchildren. LaMar is also survived by many nieces, nephews and many good friends from Affirmation.

The family wishes to thank the selfless, tireless caregivers including Daniel Nelson for 12 years of intermittent custodial care; David Hamilton and family and Dan Nelson for taking turns doing intermittent round-the-clock caregiving service for the last five months while LaMar was bedridden and unable to walk. We also wish to thank friends Frank Vermillion and Ricardo Cerezo for caregiving services. We wish to acknowledge the Kaiser Permanente nurses in California. Please note that Christopher Courtois, an office tenant, was very devoted to LaMar and looked out for LaMar for many years. We also wish to thank Adam Consolo for the YouTube video of LaMar’s life which will be viewed at both funeral locations and can be accessed on YouTube by searching for LaMar Hamilton. Also we wish to thank the funeral homes for their excellent service, the venues, the florists, caterers, video recorder, photographer, and monument service. We’re especially grateful for the funeral program participants and all friends and family that made an effort to attend the services.

A viewing will be held Monday, January 10, 2022, at 12 pm at Crippen Mortuary, 2900 Honolulu Avenue, La Crescenta, California, followed by a service of remembrance at 1 pm. Afterward, a catered supper will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall located at 2657 Honolulu Ave., Montrose, California, 91020 (phone number 818-249-4589). Another service will be held on Friday, January 14, 2022; viewing at 1 pm and funeral service at 2 pm at the LDS North Fairview Rock Chapel located at 131 E 100 N, in Fairview, Utah. Interment will be at the Fairview City Cemetery in Utah. The Rasmussen Mortuary in Mt Pleasant, Utah is providing service to the family. A supper will be provided by Snow College Catering and will be held at the same LDS Chapel recreation hall at approximately 3:30 pm.
