Jan 19, 2022

1949 – 2022

Homer Dilts Workman of Fountain Green, Utah, passed away on January 10, 2022, after a brief illness. He was surrounded by his dear wife, Marla, and other loved ones. The oldest of seven children, he was born to Isaac Dilts Workman and Uneva Litster Workman on March 9, 1949 in Provo, Utah.

He graduated from Rancho High School in Las Vegas in 1967 and later served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Germany. He also served in the U.S. Army and National Guard. A skilled carpenter, Homer worked in construction for many years and enjoyed building furniture and other projects for himself and others.

Homer was married for 11 years to Datha Neely (with whom he had 4 children) and to the late Kathryn Bollinger for 16 years. On July 22, 2004, he married Marla Nielsen. Together they participated in choir, church service, and creative writing endeavors and loved spending time with their children and grandchildren.

A self-described mountain man, Homer loved nature and adventuring in the great outdoors. He was an avid camper and hiker and was heavily involved in scouting programs throughout his life. His rugged looks earned him background parts in religious and historical films such as Finding Faith in Christ, 17 Miracles, and Ephraim’s Rescue. His film work brought immense joy in his life.

Homer loved music. He played guitar and harmonica and cherished sharing and creating music with his family and his country-western band. He wrote, performed, and recorded many original songs about his passions: God, family, and country. Homer left a great legacy of faith, love, and service and will be greatly missed.

Homer was preceded in death by his parents, Dilts and Uneva Workman, and his brother, Randy Workman. He is survived by his wife Marla Workman, his children Tammy (Matt) Paulson, Laura (Ben) La Monica, Suzanne (Ryan) Decaria, Jason (Meagan) Workman, and his step-children Mark (Bonnie) Holmquist, Kristine (Robert) Dunn, Niel Nielsen, RoseMary (Jerry) Stuart, JoAnn (Jimmy) Barbre, Dixie (Burke) Hansen, William Nielsen, Gerold Nielsen, and Nick (Susan) Nielsen. He is also survived by his brother, Scott (Nancy) Workman, and sisters Uneva Rickman, Peggy (Jock) Spencer, Karen (Mel) Nance, and Sandra Workman, as well as 53 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Fountain Green LDS Chapel (151 S. 200 W.) with viewings at the same location on Monday, January 17, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Tuesday, January 18, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The interment will be held at the Utah Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bluffdale, Utah on January 25, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. under the care of Rasmussen Mortuary.

The family wishes to thank the staff of the Central Valley Medical Center in Nephi for the kind care they provided Homer. We also wish to thank Rasmussen Mortuary, Utah Veterans Cemetery, and the Fountain Green Third Ward for their help with the funeral arrangements.
