Kent Lowell Hansen

In God’s Garden there are plenty of red, yellow and pink roses, however, “Blue Roses” are very rare and should be appreciated for their beauty and distinctiveness.

Kent was one of God’s Blue Roses; he was born with Downs Syndrome on January 20, 1958 to Lowell and Etha Hansen of Spring City. Kent attended elementary school in Spring City and in 1981; he started attending a school for people with special needs in Nephi, Utah. In 1985, Kent moved to a group home in Nephi. Throughout the years, Kent moved to other group homes and eventually settled in a group home in Provo in 2010. During this time, he traveled to Nephi every day to work at a day program for people with special needs.

Kent was a one of a kind human being and in spite of his challenges in this life; he was a kindhearted loving person. If you were lucky enough to know him, you immediately loved him.

As a family, we have been blessed to have him in our lives.

Kent is proceeded in death by his parents Lowell and Etha, brother Lorell, brother-in law Dee Bullock and sister-in-law Kristin Hansen. He is survived by his brother Quay, sister’s Linda (Clyde) Johnson Marilyn (Kim) Jensen, and numerous nieces and nephews.

We would like to thank everyone who has played any type of role in Kent’s life. To any and all who have cared for him, worked with him or been a part of his life in anyway, we as a family want to thank you for your patience, understanding, acceptance, kindness and most importantly the love and care you have given and shown to our blue rose. We are eternally grateful.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the Chrysilis program in Nephi or Provo, Utah, in Kent’s name, or in honor of Kent take every opportunity to share the love that Kent had for others by showing acceptance, love and kindness to other blue roses.
