Fresia del Carmen Pizarro

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, Fresia del Carmen Pizarro passed away on January 17, 2024. She was 103 years old. Born July 16, 1920 in Ovalle province of Coquimbo, Chile. She was married for 33 years to Lincoyan B Cornejo Cuello, together they had 8 children. Anamaria Abdul Jabar, Mt. Pleasant, UT; Carmen M. Nielson, LA. CA; Jose M. Cornejo Pizarro, Chile; Ulises L Cornejo Pizarro (deceased); Jaime A. Cornejo Pizarro, Las Vegas, NV; Marcela M. Abbott; San Diego, CA; Jorge P Cornejo Pizarro, SLC, UT; Claudia A Murphy, Jacksonville, FL. She came to this country in 1973 and later became a citizen of the USA. As a teenager she worked as a phone operator for Bethelehem Chile Iron Mine Co. In El Tofo, Chile. She worked for and retired from BYU Housing. After her retirement she was able to travel to Europe, Hawaii and Japan.

Fresia was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Loved to read the scriptures, attend the Temple, loved to knit, garden and being outside in the sunshine. She was loved not only by her children and grandchildren but by anyone she would come in contact with, always leaving a lasting impression on everyone.

Preceded in death by her mother, siblings, son Ulises L Cornejo Pizarro, grandsons Paulo Cornejo and Victor A Izatt.

Funeral services were held Saturday, January 27, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in the Mt. Pleasant Stake Center with a viewing from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. prior to services at the church. Interment in the Mt. Pleasant City Cemetery. Online condolences at rasmussenmortuary.com.
