Amelia Bee Brennan Foutz

Mar 6, 2024

1926 – 2024

Amelia Bee Brennan Foutz (age 97) was born on September 7, 1926 to James M. Brennan and Waudessa Dial Spickelmier in Manitou, OK the second of 13 children. She moved to Bakersfield, CA when she was 6 years old and lived in California most of her life until she moved to Mt. Pleasant in March of 2021. She passed away on March 1, 2024.

Bee met and married Carlos Lavell “Chuck” Foutz in Ukiah, CA and they were married for 52 years before his passing in 2020. She joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1952 and was sealed to her husband and children on April 18, 1955 in the Mesa Temple.

Bee spent most of her adult life teaching the hard of hearing and deaf children. She loved the children and many of them would see her years later and wrap her in huge hugs and smiles.

Bee loved gardening and genealogy. Her yard was always the most beautiful yard in her area and people driving by would stop to take pictures of it.

She became the head of the Bakersfield Stake Genealogy Library in the early 1970’s and was there for 15 years. In 1989 she and her husband went on a mission to the Genealogy Library at Temple Square. Chuck’s Alzheimer’s became apparent during this time and she spent the rest of her time taking care of him until his passing on September 3, 2000.

Church became very important to her the last few years of her life and she loved watching the “Come Follow Me” podcasts.

Bee had a way of making everyone feel special and she was loved by everyone. She will be sorely missed.

She is survived by her children: Diana (Steve) Stringer, Brenda Miller, Sharon Haskell and Mike Foutz; 16 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. in the Mt. Pleasant North Stake Center (461 N 300 W) with a viewing from 11:00 – 12:30 p.m. prior to services. Interment in the Mt. Pleasant City Cemetery. Online condolences at rasmussenmortuary.com.
