James Alexis Weston

1935 – 2024

James Alexis Weston passed away December 14th, 2024 at the age of 89. Many of his family members were there with him to say goodbye and let him know how much he was loved. Jim was born February 17th, 1935 on a farm in Decatur County Georgia. He served in the US Army from 1954 to 1957, most of that time in Japan as a helicopter crew chief. Afterward, he was the first in his family to attend college at Brigham Young University and graduated with a BS in Agronomy from Utah State University. He later earned a Masters degree in Public Administration from Oklahoma State University. While at BYU he met Joan Wallace and they were married June 9, 1959. He worked at Del Monte shortly before a long career in the Soil Conservation Service which required frequent moves. Jim and Joan raised their family in Utah, Idaho, Texas, Oregon, Washington, and back to Utah. He was a proud and active member of the Sons of Utah Pioneers. Jim is survived by two sisters – Vivian Lunt (Farrell) and Linda Parramore, his wife Joan Weston, seven children – Janet Colvin (Dale), Melinda Ostraff (Joe), Jameson Weston, Tina Perrin (Scott), Rance Weston (LaDawn), Ryan Weston (Lori), Ben Weston and Sheryl Weston, 32 grandchildren, and 35 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Friday, December 20th at 11:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints building at 122 S State Street in Fairview, UT. Viewing began at 10:00 am.
