Jewel Josephine Bruno Bailey
1930 – 2026
Jewel Josephine Bruno Bailey, 95, passed away peacefully at her home in Moroni, Utah, on May 18, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 9, 1930 in Moroni to Scott Barnum and Sophie O’Leary Cloward Bruno.
Jewel married Paul Bailey on June 17, 1948. Their marriage was later solemnized and their family sealed together in the Manti Utah Temple.
Jewel was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed serving in many church callings including Stake and Ward Relief Society President and in the Manti Utah Temple. She had a strong testimony of and love for our Savior Jesus Christ.
Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She loved each of them dearly and up until her passing could tell you the names and recent events of each of the more than 140 members of her posterity. Throughout her life she attended literally thousands of ball games, performances, and celebrations of her family. She was very proud of her Irish heritage through her mother’s O’Leary family line. She loved and served her family and community throughout her life.
She is survived by her children, Paula (Mark) Jorgenson, David (Eddi) Bailey, Brent (Anita) Bailey, and son-in-law Dan Sperry, Moroni; Gay (Scott) Aagard, Fountain Green; Bruce (Sheila) Bailey, St George; her brother, Perry (Adella) Bruno, Salt Lake City; 24 grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her husband Paul; parents; daughter Alice Jean Sperry; grandson Jimmy Scott Bailey; brothers Albert, Eugene and Glendon Cloward, Bernell and Scott Bruno; sisters Iona Baxter, Grace Ostler, and Marcile Jackson.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 22, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in the Moroni Stake Center. Viewings were held Thursday, May 21, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the services on Friday, all at the Moroni Stake Center. Burial in the Moroni City Cemetery.
