Outlook: Just about any program will tell you that taking a state championship is the goal, although few teams truly have a chance to do as much.

For Skyridge, however, taking a coveted state championship is a very realistic proposition most years and this season should prove no different.

“We have a lot of great returning talent and some young guys who have really impressed and we feel will add a lot to what we do out there,” said Skyridge coach Justin Hemm. “We’ll have to replace our quarterback, but we have some really good talent there and he’ll have a good offensive line blocking for him and some really good playmakers around him.”

For the Falcons, making their way to Rice-Eccles Stadium hasn’t been a problem, although advancing to the state championship game and then winning it is a hurdle they hope to bust through this season. And given the overall talent within the program, taking it to the next level could certainly be in the cards.

“We like where we’re at both offensively and defensively,” Hemm said. “Hopefully we can come together and come out of those close games, which is always very important, but I like how our team has worked in the offseason and we’re feeling good entering the season.”

What is your favorite team building activity? “These guys do a great job hanging around together and doing things on their own to build unity, which is great,” Hemm said. “But we also do great pool parties and do talent shows as a team. We talk about it a lot and we have meetings to talk about things that we can do together constantly because building team unity is so important for any team to have success.”
