Asiata was pulled over on Slate Canyon drive after Utah County Sheriff Office deputy straddling the white traffic line. After being pulled over, Asiata gave the police a fake name and date of birth while the vehicle smelled of alcohol with Asiata appearing with, “Red, glossy eyes,” and then failed a sobriety test. Asiata was then booked and released on bond.

Asiata is a 6-foot-3, 210 pound former Herriman High standout was entering his sophomore season for the Cougars although his future as a football player has been in jeopardy stemming from a 2022 incident when he was shot and barely survived while a 15-year old high school student. Since the incident he’s struggled to maintain weight, leading to him not playing throughout the 2025 season after showing some promise as a true freshman in 2024. Asiata is the son of former Utah running back Matt Asiata who later played in the NFL for the Minnesota Vikings.
