BYU will face the Huskies of Washington in the quarterfinals on Monday, Nov. 23, at 3 p.m. MT on ESPN2. In Tuesday’s semifinal, the Cougars will face either Ole Miss or Clemson. The championship game will be played on Wednesday, Nov. 25, where the Cougars could play Arizona, VCU, Providence and Colorado State.

All 12 games of the 2026 Southwest Maui Invitational will be televised on ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPNU and will also be available on the ESPN app.

The Cougars will play in the Maui Invitational for a fifth time, having previously competed in 2019, 2014, 2004 and 1992. BYU is 6-6 all-time at the tournament, highlighted by a runner-up finish in 1992, where they defeated No. 9 Oklahoma and Memphis before falling to No. 1 Duke in the championship game.

The matchup with the Huskies in Maui will be the 20th all-time meeting between BYU and Washington and the first at a neutral site since the 1951 NCAA Tournament in Kansas City. The Cougars are 9-10 all-time against the Huskies, including a 90-79 win in their last meeting on March 19, 2013, in the opening round of the NIT. Tyler Haws was one of three Cougars to score at least 20 points as the program’s all-time leading scorer finished with a game-high 37 points, going 15-of-24 from the field, 1-of-3 from 3-point range and 6-of-6 from the free throw line. Matt Carlino chipped in 20 points, nine assists and seven rebounds.

Lundell takes the win

DENVER — Former BYU golfer Carson Lundell shot a 20-under 264 (64-68-66-66) to win the 2026 Inspirato Colorado Open on Sunday at Green Valley Ranch Golf Club.

“It means the world,” Lundell said. “This is a big event, and I’ve taken sixth twice and third once, so I’ve been knocking on the door every year. I knew it was just a matter of time before I’d be able to get it done. It means everything. I love this event and love this course.”

Lundell recorded his best round of the event in round one, carding a 7-under 64. He opened with birdies on Nos. 1, 3 and 4 before making a bogey on No. 6. The former Cougar closed the front nine at 4 under after making an eagle on No. 9. Birdies on Nos. 11, 12 and 16 helped Lundell finish the first round at 7 under.

In the second round, Lundell made birdies on Nos. 3 and 7 and an eagle on No. 4 before a bogey on No. 8 left him 3 under through nine holes. He offset birdies on Nos. 12 and 15 with a double bogey on the final hole to card a 3-under 68.

After making the cut, which reduced the field to the top 60 players and ties, Lundell shot consecutive 5-under-66s in the third and fourth rounds to win the event. The Utah native highlighted his third round with five birdies and no bogeys to move to 15 under for the tournament.

Lundell opened the final round with birdies on Nos. 1, 4, 7 and 9 and a bogey on No. 8 before making the turn. Birdies on Nos. 11 and 14 helped him finish with another 5-under 66 and reach 20-under par for the championship.

Former BYU men’s golfers Keanu Akina and Zac Jones also competed in the event. Akina tied for 14th at 13 under (71-64-65-71–271), and Jones finished 11-under par (68-70-66-69–273) and tied for 22nd.

Lundell’s 264 was the best four-round total of his career, surpassing his previous best of 267 at the 2025 Inspirato Colorado Open.

Cross Country scheduling announcements

The BYU women’s team will start the season traveling to Stillwater, Okla. to race in the Cowboy Jamboree. BYU placed first at this meet last year with 34 points.

Pre-Nationals will be held in Terre Haute, Ind. and hosted by Indiana on Oct. 16. The Cougars are looking for another first-place finish at the Pre-Nationals.

BYU will spend Halloween competing in the Big 12 Championships at the Greiner Family OSU Cross Country Course. BYU is seeking a fourth consecutive Big 12 title.

To qualify for Nationals, the Cougars will travel to Albuquerque, NM to compete in the NCAA Mountain Regionals on Nov. 13.

To finish out the season, BYU will look to advance to the NCAA National Championships and return to Terre Haute, Ind. on Nov. 21. The Cougars are hoping to reclaim its title after finishing as the runner-up last year.
