BYU football: New times and dates to 2026 schedule announced

IRVING, Texas — The Big 12 Conference, in conjunction with its national television partners, today announced kickoff times and broadcast network designations for the opening weeks and select weeknight football games of the 2026 season, including four BYU games.

With its television partners ESPN, FOX and TNT Sports, the Big 12 announced more than 50 television selections across linear and streaming platforms for games involving Big 12 teams, including BYU’s nonconference games against Utah Tech and Colorado State as well as conference matchups versus Arizona and Iowa State.

BYU’s season opener in LaVell Edwards Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 5 against the Utah Tech Trailblazers will kick at 6 p.m. MDT on ESPN+. The following week the Cougars host their Big 12 opener on Saturday, Sept. 12 with the Arizona Wildcats coming to Provo for a 1:30 p.m. MDT kickoff being featured nationally on FOX.

BYU’s first road game of the season the next week against longtime former conference foe Colorado State will be showcased nationally on CBS in a 5:30 p.m. MDT start at Canvas Stadium in Fort Collins. In addition to the opening three week’s of the season, BYU’s Friday night matchup vs. Iowa State on Oct. 9 in LaVell Edwards Stadium was selected for an ESPN national telecast kicking at 8:15 p.m. MDT.

The remainder of the regular season’s television selections and game times will be announced on a 12-day or six-day notice via Big12Sports.com and the conference’s official digital platforms. The Big 12 season will then culminate with the 2026 Big 12 Football Championship at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on Friday night, Dec. 4 with a 7 p.m. CST kickoff on ABC.

The 2026 season marks the second year of the Big 12’s new media package that continues its partnerships with ESPN and FOX with the addition of TNT Sports to its football portfolio. TNT Sports will continue to televise an exclusive slate of Big 12 football games as part of an agreement between Warner Bros. Discovery and ESPN.
