Lamont
1943~2015
SPRING CITY– John Clayton Lamont, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack Sept. 4, 2015, at his home in Spring City, where they have lived for exactly one year.
He was a young 72-years-old with many projects remaining in his in-basket. He was a long time resident of Merced, Ca; where he worked many years teaching French and Spanish in high school. He shared his love of language with many by taking parents and students on tours to Europe. His beautiful voice and guitar playing was enjoyed and shared with many through the years.
He wrote many songs about California where he is known as Californias Vaquero Balladeer. He was commended in a California State Legislature Assembly Resolution No. 1650, for his efforts in representing California in song as well as his continual work in education through many venues.
John and his mother joined the LDS Church while in Merced. They were tracked out by two wonderful missionaries, Steven Anderson and Bennett Peterson. Steven was a son of Owen B. Anderson, Spring City.
John fell in love with Spring City at a young age and learned hard work on their farm in the summertime. John realized his dream of living here and has really enjoyed his short but fulfilling time in this wonderful community. He has enjoyed reconnecting with old friends and making new ones.
Remaining is his wife of 44 years, Sharron Lines Lamont; and children, three sons, Ian, Christian, and Evan, and a daughter, Erin. He loved his daughters-in-law, Jennifer and Kimberly and his son-in-law, Jason, as his own children and only called them his daughters and son.
He was so proud of his grandchildren, Grace; Joshua; Dylan; Cierra; Jonah; Brooke; Gwen; Bryant; Chloe; Kade; and last, but not least Phoebe.
He has wonderful brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews who he always felt blessed his life tremendously.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Dr. Helen D. Lamont, PHD; and father, Ramon C. Casablanca.
John has had so many varied interests and experiences they cannot all be mentioned here. He was a very busy man who loved the Lord, his family and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 12, in the Spring City LDS Historic Chapel, 164 South Main, with a viewing from 9:30 10:30 a.m., prior to services at the church.
Interment will be in the Spring City Cemetery.
