SANPETE WATER CONSERVANCY DISTRICT

Notice of Vacancy: Four (4) positions on the Sanpete Water Conservancy District (“SWCD”) Board of Directors have become vacant because of expired terms.

The purpose of the SWCD is for conserving, developing, and stabilizing supplies of water for domestic, irrigation, power, manufacturing, municipal and other beneficial uses contemplated by law and includes all of Sanpete County.

The SWCD is divided into seven (7) divisions or districts and each district has one (1) director. The exact district boundaries are set forth in legal metes and bounds descriptions which can be examined at the Sanpete County Clerk’s Office in Manti.

The five (5) specific districts having vacancies and the cities and towns located in each include:

District 1 – Incorporated areas: North part of Mt. Pleasant and Fairview. Unincorporated areas: Milburn and Indianola.

District 3 – Incorporated areas: Fountain Green, Moroni, Wales. Unincorporated areas: Chester and Freedom

District 5 – Incorporated area: Manti

District 6 – Incorporated areas: Sterling, Mayfield, Centerfield. Unincorporated area: Axtell.

District 7 – Incorporated area: Gunnison, Fayette

Appointing Authority: The Appointing Authority for the SWCD Board positions is the Sanpete County Commission.

Qualifications: (1) Must be a resident of the district where appointed. (2) A board member from either District 6 or District 7 must own “Sevier River bottom land”

Term: 4 year terms retroactive to January 1, 2016, except that one of the appointed board members from District 1, District 3 or District 5 shall be chosen by lot to serve a two-year term to satisfy the statutory requirement that approximately half the board members expire every two years and provided that the board members from District 6 and 7 will expire at the same time and will always be co-terminus.

Appointment Procedure: All applicants must obtain a written application from the Sanpete County Clerk’s Office and submit the same designating which District the applicant is applying for.

The deadline for receiving applications is July 19th, 2016, at 12:00 p.m.(Noon) at the Sanpete County Clerk’s Office at 160 North Main, Suite 202, Manti, Utah, 84642.

The applications will be reviewed and considered for appointment at the regular County Commission Meeting on Tuesday, July 19, 2016, or at such future meeting which the Commissioners may determine at the time.
