What are the biggest issues facing your city and Utah Valley, and how do you plan to address them?
I believe the restrictions placed on small businesses, and restrictive zoning ordinances are the biggest reasons Provo isn’t keeping up with areas to the north as far as development and business growth.
What sets you apart from other candidates?
I want to Disincorporate Provo City. It’s a drastic move, that I believe is necessary to turn Provo City around.
What relevant experience do you have for this position?
I’m an innovator, and find new solutions to old problems. I believe I can find the right path through the mess we are in.
Is there anything else you want your readers to know about you?
I’ve lived in Provo my whole life. My Grandparents moved here in the 40’s bringing my Mother from California to grow up here. They built a life, and none of them were afraid of doing honest hard work to succeed, so they did. Today though, it doesn’t seem like working hard leads to success. Working the system, knowing how to navigate the labyrinth of government restrictions, and especially befriending those in power, seems to trump hard work.I say remove the power. Throw off those petty restrictions that slow innovation and growth, and let people do what they want on their own property, and with their own lives.I want to disincorporate Provo, eliminating the Provo City Code, the City Council, and the position of Mayor of Provo completely. There may be some bumps along the way, but I know the willpower of the people that live here, and I know that we will push through them, and be all the better for it.
