LDS Church’s Ronald A. Rasband throws first pitch at Angels game

By Daily Herald - | Aug 1, 2018

Elder Ronald A. Rasband, member of the Quorum of Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, has quite the arm.

Rasband threw out the ceremonial first pitch for the Los Angeles Angels game Friday night. The team hosted an LDS Night, an annual tradition the team has had since 1997.

It’s amazing to be in a stadium full of tens of thousands of people of different backgrounds, ethnicities, and religions and know that we are all brothers and sisters as children of our Father in Heaven,” Rasband wrote on Instagram Tuesday.

According to the LDS Church, Rasband warmed up before the game with his 11-year-old grandson on the sideline. His pitch cleared home plate, but was low and wide.

The night also included honoring five LDS youth who were recognized for outstanding achievements in their community.

According to the LDS Church, 2,200 members of the LDS Church attended the event and the game. The Angels defeated the Seattle Mariners 4-3.
