BYU Football Opponent Power Rankings: Oregon moves up after win vs. BYU

Here’s our weekly ranking of BYU football’s opponents with a look at their schedules and matchups.

1. No. 10 Arkansas (3-0, 1-0 SEC West)

Last results: No. 10 Arkansas needed a 21-point fourth quarter and 167 yards rushing from Raheim Sanders to overcome Missouri State 38-27.

Game On: Saturday vs. No. 23 Texas A&M (2-1, 0-0 SEC West), 5 p.m. MT (ESPN)

What’s Up? Max Johnson threw for 140 yards and a touchdown in his first start for No. 24 Texas A&M in a 17-9 victory against No. 13 Miami. … Arkansas leads the overall series with the Aggies 42-33-3, with last year’s 20-10 victory in Arlington breaking a nine-game losing streak.

2. No. 15 Oregon (2-1, 0-0 Pac-12 North)

Last results: Bo Nix accounted for five touchdowns (three rushing, two passing) and Oregon dominated the line of scrimmage on a 41-20 victory against No. 12 BYU.

Game On: Saturday at Washington State (3-0, 0-0 Pac-12 North), 2 p.m. MT (FOX)

What’s Up? Cameron Ward threw for 292 yards and four touchdowns as Washington State pounded Colorado State 38-7. … Oregon leads the series with the Cougars 52-42-7 and has won three straight, including 38-24 in Eugene last year.

3. No. 17 Baylor (2-1, 0-0 Big 12)

Last results: Richard Reese ran for 156 yards and three touchdowns to lead No. 17 Baylor to a 42-7 victory against Texas State.

Game On: Saturday at Iowa State (3-0, 0-0 Big 12), 10 a.m. MT (ESPN2/ESPNU)

What’s Up? Iowa State routed Ohio 43-10 for its first 3-0 start since 2012. … Baylor leads the overall series with the Cyclones 11-9 and won last year 31-29 in Waco.

4. Stanford (1-1, 0-1 Pac-12)

Last results: Idle

Game On: Saturday at No. 18 Washington (3-0, 0-0 Pac-12), 8:30 p.m. MT (FS1)

What’s Up? Michael Penix Jr. threw for 397 yards and four touchdowns, three to Ja’lyn Polk, as Washington upset No. 11 Michigan State 39-28. … The Stanford-Washington series is tied at 44-44-4, with the Huskies winning 20-13 at Stanford last season.

5. Notre Dame (1-2)

Last results: Marcus Freeman got his first win as the Irish coach as Drew Pyne passed for two touchdowns in his first start in a 24-17 victory against Cal.

Game On: Saturday at North Carolina (3-0, 0-0 ACC Coastal), 1:30 p.m. MT (ABC)

What’s Up? The Irish lead the series with the Tar Heels 20-1 and won last year 44-34 in South Bend. … North Carolina won the 2008 game 29-24 but had to vacate the victory due to NCAA penalties, so its last win in the series officially came in 1960.

6. Liberty (2-1)

Last results: Liberty scored with 1:11 to play to pull within one point of No. 19 Wake Forest but failed to make a two-point conversion in a 37-36 loss.

Game On: Saturday vs. Akron (1-2, 0-0 MAC East), 4 p.m. MT (ESPN+)

What’s Up? Akron surrendered 676 yards, including 438 through the air, in a 63-6 loss to No. 15 Tennessee. … The Zips won the only other meeting with the Flames in 2002, a 49-21 win in Akron.

7. Boise State (2-1, 1-0 MWC Mountain)

Last results: George Holani accounted for 157 yards of offense and two touchdowns to lead Boise State past Tennessee-Martin 30-7.

Game On: Friday at UTEP (1-3, 0-1 C-USA), 7 p.m. MT (CBSSN)

What’s Up? Gavin Hardison threw for 299 yards but three interceptions as UTEP fell to New Mexico 27-10. … Boise State leads the series with the Miners 6-0, including a 54-13 win in Boise last season.

8. Wyoming (3-1, 1-0 MWC Mountain)

Last results: Wyoming held the potent Air Force option attack to just 171 yards and Titus Swen ran for 102 yards and a late touchdown to lead the Cowboys to a 17-14 upset.

Game On: Saturday at No. 19 BYU (2-1), 8:15 p.m. MT (ESPN2/ESPNU)

What’s Up? BYU fell behind 38-7 at Oregon and lost the game 41-20. … The Cougars lead the overall series with the Cowboys 45-30-3 and have won eight games in a row, including a 24-21 victory in the 2016 Poinsettia Bowl.

9. East Carolina (2-1, 0-0 AAC)

Last results: Holton Ahlers threw three touchdown passes and Rahjai Harris ran for two more scores as East Carolina pulled away from FCS-level Campbell 49-10.

Game On: Saturday vs. Navy (0-2, 0-1 AAC), 4 p.m. MT (ESPN+)

What’s Up? Seth Henigan threw for 415 yards and two touchdowns to lead Memphis to a 37-13 victory against Navy. … The Midshipmen lead the overall series with East Carolina 7-2 but the Pirates won 38-35 in Annapolis last season.

10. South Florida (1-2, 0-0 AAC)

Last results: South Florida missed a 48-yard field goal with 23 second left that would have sent the game into overtime and No. 18 Florida survived the upset bid, 31-28.

Game On: Saturday at Louisville (1-2, 0-2 ACC), 10 a.m. MT (ESPN3)

What’s Up? Malik Cunningham threw for 243 yards and one touchdown and ran for 127 and two more scores for Louisville but it wasn’t enough in a 35-31 loss to Florida State.

11. Utah State (1-2, 0-0 MWC Mountain)

Last results: Idle

Game On: Sept. 24 vs. UNLV (2-1, 0-0 MWC West), 5 p.m. MT (CBSSN)

What’s Up? Doug Brumfield accounted for four touchdowns and Aidan Robbins ran for 227 yards and three scores as UNLV blasted North Texas 58-27. … The Aggies lead the overall series with the Rebels 19-6 and have won six in a row, including 28-24 in Las Vegas last season.

12. Utah Tech (1-2, 0-0 WAC)

Last results: Bronson Barron passed for 368 yards and four touchdowns to lead Weber State past Utah Tech 44-14.

Game On: Saturday at Southern Utah (2-1, 0-0 WAC), 6 p.m. MT (ESPN+)

What’s Up? Justin Miller connected with Isaiah Wooden on a 73-yard touchdown pass with 33 seconds to play to lift Southern Utah to a 17-10 victory against Western Illinois. … SUU has won both games it has played against Utah Tech, including a 52-0 shutout in 2010.
