Each week, Daily Herald sports writers Jared Lloyd and Darnell Dickson rank the top five teams in the Utah Valley in football, girls soccer and girls volleyball:

FOOTBALL

1. Skyridge (6-0)

Jackson Stevens with seven TD passes in win vs. Westlake.

2. American Fork (6-0)

Offense was cooking in 62-28 victory over Lehi.

3. Pleasant Grove (6-0)

Vikings beat Lone Peak for first time since 2012.

4. Lehi (5-1)

Key injuries may derail Pioneers chances.

5. Timpview (4-2)

Sophomore QB Helaman Casuga with 5 total TDs vs. Orem.

GIRLS SOCCER

1. Lone Peak (13-1)

Once again, Skyridge was close enough to threaten but the Knights got the win.

2. American Fork (8-4)

Can the Cavemen get enough cohesion to close out the season strong?

3. Timpview (9-3)

The Thunderbirds face a couple of tough contests against Spanish Fork and Maple Mountain.

4. Timpanogos (9-3)

Never count out the Timberwolves, who got a big win over Mountain View.

5. Skyridge (8-5)

The Falcons better watch out for a Lehi team that is building confidence.

— Jared Lloyd

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

1. Skyridge (15-0)

That’s 16 straight wins (since last season) for Silver Fonua’s Falcons.

2. Pleasant Grove (11-3)

Vikings shocked previously unbeaten Lone Peak 3-1 last week.

3. Lone Peak (6-1)

Knights headed to compete in prestigious Durango Classic.

4. Maple Mountain (6-2)

Golden Eagles host defending 5A state champ Timpview on Tuesday.

5. Orem (7-2)

Tigers rebounded from first-set loss to take care of Timpanogos.
