Playoffs: Lost to Corner Canyon 35-20 in the 6A championship

Outlook: It’s Lone Peak, which means expectations are always high. But the good news is that the Knights again look poised to seriously compete for a 6A state championship, led by some promising returning skill position players on top of quarterback Cruz Christensen, who performed admirably in backup duty a season ago.

“Cruzey (Christensen) returning helps anchor our offense, and even though we lost some very good offensive linemen, we have some young and impressive guys coming up who we think can be really good,” said Lone Peak coach Bart Brockbank. “How fast that group comes together will go a long way in how good we are offensively, but I like our potential.”

Lone Peak has been noted in recent years for its stingy defense and will again provide some top-flight players on that side of the ball beginning with sophomore Kingston Stroshine, safety Gabe Harmon and what Brockbank believes is a very formidable defensive line.

“We’ll be bigger upfront, which should help us and we’ll rely a lot o guys like Gabe Harmon and Kingston to lead us,” Brockbank said. “Overall I really like how this team has come together in the offseason and I think we have a chance to be a good football team.”

What is your favorite team building activity? “Our players came up with what was probably our best team-building activity. They put together a talent show and it was really great. We have some very talented players on our team, it turns out. It was a lot of fun watching them mimic us as coaches and they just had a great time with it. I feel it really helped bring the team closer, too,” Brockbank said.
