BYU television partner ESPN today announced broadcast plans for 2022 BYU football home games in LaVell Edwards Stadium as well as the team’s season opener at South Florida, while FOX Sports also released plans to televise two road matchups featuring the Cougars this season.

BYU will be a regular on national television once again in 2022. To date, television plans have been announced for 10 of BYU’s 12 regular-season games, including seven on ESPN Networks, two on FOX Sports Networks and one on NBC. All six home games will be available on an ESPN network, including one BYUtv national broadcast, which will be simulcast on ESPN3. Additional television plans and kick times will be announced at a later date.

The Cougars open their final season as an FBS football independent in Tampa at USF of the American Conference on Saturday, Sept. 3 in a 4 p.m. ET kickoff on ESPNU. BYU then hosts its home opener against reigning Big 12 Champion and future league opponent Baylor on Saturday, Sept. 10 in an 8:15 p.m. MT matchup on ESPN. A national broadcast network telecast on FOX features BYU the next week in a Pac-12 road contest at Oregon on Saturday, Sept. 17 kicking at 12:30 p.m. PT in Eugene.

ESPN also announced kick times and coverage plans for BYU’s two weeknight home games in 2022. The Cougars will host in-state rival Utah State on Thursday, Sept. 29 at 6 p.m. MT in a featured ESPN telecast, while East Carolina of the American Conference comes to Provo on Friday, Oct. 28 for an ESPN2 matchup also kicking at 6 p.m. MT.

BYU’s home game with former Mountain West foe Wyoming on Saturday, Sept. 24 and homecoming contest with Arkansas of the Southeastern Conference on Saturday, Oct. 15 will both be televised on one of the ESPN networks (ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, or ESPNU), with game times and the specific networks to be determined at a later date, subject to ESPN’s regular-season twelve-day/six-day selection process.

BYU’s final home game against Utah Tech on Nov. 19 has the Trailblazers from St. George coming to Provo for a 1:30 p.m. MT kickoff on BYUtv and ESPN3.

In addition to the Cougars’ FOX game at Oregon, BYU’s matchup on Nov. 5 at Boise State will be on either FOX, FS1 or FS2. Kick time for the game at Albertsons Stadium will be announced during the season along with the specific network designation.

BYU’s game versus Notre Dame at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Oct. 8 was previously announced as a 4:30 PT kickoff being broadcast nationally on NBC. Television plans still to be announced include road contests at Liberty on Oct. 22 and the regular-season finale at Stanford on Nov. 26.
