NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Lexy Halladay-Lowry won the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invite Friday morning at the Burke Golf Course.

Halladay-Lowry won the 5000-meter race in 15:57.5, six seconds faster than the next finisher. Friday’s win marks her second-career victory with her first being the Run Elite Classic on Sept. 9, 2022. The senior from Meridian, Idaho has now placed in the top five at 10 meets in her career. Her time of 15:57.5 is a personal best over a 5000m cross country course.

“Today was so fun,” Halladay-Lowry said. “The whole team approached the line with gratitude and was simply ready to race. We knew there were two teams ranked in the top three and we wanted to see where we stacked up next to them at this point in the season. We are very happy with how we ran, but we also know where we need to get stronger going forward.”

Jenna Hutchins was the next BYU woman to cross the line as she placed fourth in 16:14.1. Carmen Alder was the third Cougar to finish in the top-10 as she placed 10th in 16:24.0. Taylor Rohatinsky and Riley Chamberlain rounded out BYU’s scoring five as they placed 25th and 29th, respectively.

No. 5 BYU placed second as a team as the Cougars finished behind No. 2 Northern Arizona’s 52 points and beat No. 3 Notre Dame’s 70 points.

Up next, the BYU women will travel to Madison, Wisconsin to preview this year’s national championship course at the Wisconsin Pre-Nationals Oct. 19.

Starting at $4.32/week.
