BYU players celebrate a goal in the Blue-White Game at South Field on Saturday, Aug. 2, 2025.
An injury robbed BYU forward Eli Walbruch of her 2024 season.
She returned healthy and in style on Saturday to South Field, logging both goals in the annual Blue-White game in a 2-0 Blue victory.
Walbruch, who scored 11 goals as a sophomore in 2023, struck first in the 29th minute of the scrimmage. The junior knocked in a shot to the bottom right off an assist from Kate Denney with less than two minutes remaining in the half for a 1-0 lead. Blue quickly regained possession and freshman forward Sophie Sivulich had a shot at the net at 29:43, but missed wide.
Each team tallied two shots on goal in the first half with freshmen goalkeepers Paiton Collins of the Blue team notching two saves and Sarah Mathis from the White team tallying one. The Blue team recorded five corner kicks with White only generating one.
With just over 10 minutes to play, a Denney foul in the box offered Walbruch her second goal of the night, and she buried the penalty kick into the bottom left of the goal.
