BYU football head coach Kalani Sitake has announced the captains and co-captains that make up the program’s Team Leadership Council for the 2025 season.
Voted on by the players, the 17-member Team Leadership Council consists of five captains and 12 co-captains representing all three phases of the team: offense, defense and special teams.
Senior wide receiver Chase Roberts was again selected by his peers as a team captain after serving in that capacity last season, while 2024 co-captains Jack Kelly, a senior linebacker, and Tanner Wall, a senior safety, joined him in being named captains for 2025. Junior defensive tackle Keanu Tanuvasa, in his first season in Provo after transfering from Utah, and junior running back LJ Martin were also voted as 2025 team captains.
Senior kicker Will Ferrin, senior defensive end Logan Lutui, senior safety Talan Alfrey and senior offensive linemen Weylin Lapuaho were also repeat selections by their teammates to fulfill leadership roles as co-captains for the second straight season.
Additional co-captains on defense include senior cornerback Mory Bamba, senior defensive lineman John Taumoepeau, junior safety Raider Damuni and junior linebacker Isaiah Glasker.

Other offensive co-captains include senior tight end Carsen Ryan, junior offensive tackle Andrew Gentry, junior center Bruce Mitchell and freshman quarterback Bear Bachmeier.
In all, the Team Leadership Council comprises nine seniors, seven juniors and one freshman.
“I’m confident in this leadership team our players have selected,” said Sitake. “We have a lot of good leaders on our team who will provide both leadership and support throughout our program to make our team better. We are excited for the season.”
The Leadership Council meets regularly to plan and fullfill leadership responsibilities for the program, both on and off the field. Four members of the Team Leadership Council will represent the team at the coin toss on the field for every game, while the others are providing leadership in the locker room as the team prepares to take the field.
BYU opens the 2025 season this Saturday when the Cougars host Portland State in LaVell Edwards Stadium at 6 p.m. MT. The game will be televised on ESPN+.
