Roberts, Ferrin tabbed for All-Big 12 Football preseason team

IRVING, Texas — BYU wide receiver Chase Roberts and kicker Will Ferrin were named to the All-Big 12 Preseason Football Team for the upcoming 2025 season. Roberts and Ferrin were previously named Preseason First Team All-Big 12 by Phil Steele and Athlon Sports.
A total of 29 individuals from 12 of the leagues 16-teams were selected to the 2025 All-Big 12 Preseason Football Team, chosen by media representatives who cover the league. The team includes 15 players on offense and 14 on defense. See the full list below.
Following the 2024 season, Roberts was named All-Big 12 Third Team by Phil Steele and the College Football Network. The 6-4, 210-pound senior from Highland, Utah, led BYU in receiving yards with 854 and receptions with 52 in 2024. He also tied for the most receiving touchdowns last year with four. The Cougar captain was named to the Midseason All-Big 12 Second Team by College Football Network.
Ferrin, a 6-3, 175-pound senior from Kaysville, Utah, was recently named Preseason Second-Team All-America by Phil Steele and Athlon Sports. He is coming off a season where he was named Big 12 Co-Special Teams Player of the Year and College Football Network Big 12 Kicker of the Year. In addition, Ferrin was named first-team All-Big 12 by the conference coaches, AP, College Football Network and Phil Steele. In 2024, he set new BYU records for field goals in a season (24) and tied the school record for consecutive field goals made (16).
A Lou Groza Award Semifinalist in 2024, Ferrin led the Big 12 in field goals and was eighth nationally. He also converted all 41 of his extra-point attempts to lead all conference kickers in scoring with 113 points (8.7 per game). The senior kicker also excels in the classroom with a 3.52 GPA in business management and was named Academic All-District by College Sports Communicators in 2023 and 2024.
BYU kicks off the 2025 football season against Portland State on Saturday, Aug. 30 at LaVell Edwards Stadium. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+ with the kickoff scheduled for 6 p.m. MDT.
