Salt Lake Community College has announce Gary Veron as its new Athletic Director, effective June 2, 2025.

Veron brings over a decade of distinguished experience in collegiate athletics administration to SLCC, including leadership roles at BYU, the University of Wyoming and BYU-Hawaii.

“I’m honored to lead in this new role and am excited to build on SLCC’s remarkable foundation,” Veron said. “Our coaches and student-athletes rank among the best in the country – not just in junior college athletics but at any competitive level. This is truly the opportunity of a lifetime.”

Since June of 2021, Veron has served as a senior administrator at BYU, where was the Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Experience/NIL. Veron spearheaded the university’s innovative Built4Life program and name, image and likeness initiatives. Under his guidance, Built4Life has become a model for holistic student-athlete development, preparing athletes for successful careers beyond sports while helping them maximize their personal brand opportunities.

Prior to this role, Veron worked as Director of NCAA Compliance at BYU from 2017 to 2021, collaborating closely with the football program under Kalani Sitake. Veron’s compliance expertise was previously employed at Charles R. Drew University in Los Angeles, where he served as Chief Compliance Officer and Title IX Coordinator.

Veron’s athletic administration career began at BYU-Hawaii, where he was Associate Athletic Director for Compliance and Internal Operations from 2012 to 2015. During his tenure, he helped strengthen the University’s reputation as a Division II powerhouse.

As SLCC’s Athletic Director, Veron will leverage his extensive background in NCAA compliance, student-athlete development and administrative leadership to advance the the College’s athletic programs.

“We are thrilled to welcome Gary to led our outstanding athletics program,” SLCC Vice President for Student Affairs Brett Perozzi said. “In addition to his year of collegiate athletics experience, he brings tremendous vision and innovation to the community college.”

Veron replaces Ron Loghry, who stepped in as Interim Athletic Director when Kevin Dustin left SLCC earlier this year.
