BYU softball signs Duke transfer

BYU softball head coach Gordon Eakin announced the addition of Duke transfer Hailey Shuler.

The soon-to-be sophomore appeared in 20 games for a Duke squad that hosted a regional for a fourth time in program history. She went 3-of-11 from the dish driving in two runs to go along with a walk and stolen base. She recorded a pinch-hit RBI in a 8-1 win over Georgia to force a winner-take-all regional championship game.

The two-way player also made 11 appearances in the circle going 3-0 with 13 strikeouts and eight walks in 25 2/3 innings of work. She went the distance in the Blue Devils’ 10-2 win over Providence striking out four batters while scattering three hits for two earned runs.

She graduated from Sierra Canyon High School where she was named the 2023 Mission Most Valuable Player – Pitcher. She was also named the 2022 Gold Coast Most Valuable Player. She played travel ball for Batbusters Shocky and OC Batbusters Stith.

BYU was 32-17 overall and 13-11 in Big 12 play during the 2025 season, its second in a power conference. It was an improvement over Year 1 (2024), when the Cougars finished 31-23 overall and 11-16 in league play.

BYU last made the NCAA Tournament in 2021.
