The Lead: No. 25 BYU rallies past Colorado 24-21 for first Big 12 victory
Down 14-0 at Colorado midway through the first quarter, the No. 25 BYU football team had a lot of work to do.
The Cougars got it done, making adjustments on both sides of the ball, and outscored the Buffaloes 24-7 the rest of the way in a 24-21 victory in Boulder.
The home team had a final chance to tie or take the lead but BYU downed a punt inside the Colorado 5-yard line with two minutes remaining. With just under a minute to play, Isaiah Glasker intercepted Buffaloes quarterback Kaidon Salter and the Cougars ran out the clock from there.
BYU freshman quarterback Bear Bachmeier took a lot on his broad shoulders in his first Big 12 road start, finishing 17 of 27 for 179 yards and two touchdowns (both to Chase Roberts) and ran for 98 yards as well. The Cougar defense, which was gashed in the first quarter, found its footing and held Colorado to just one score the rest of the way and under 300 yards of offense.
BYU (4-0 overall, 1-0 Big 12) will host West Virginia at LaVell Edwards Stadium on Friday.
