BYU Roundup: Cougars learn Big 12 hoops schedules

IRVING, Texas – The Big 12 Conference announced its 2026-27 schedule on Thursday, setting the dates and opponents for the Cougars’ 18-game league schedule.
The Cougars open conference play on the road for a second straight season when they face Arizona State in Tempe on Saturday, Jan. 2. A two-game homestand opens with a showdown against Cincinnati on Jan. 6 before hosting Kansas on Jan. 9. It is the Jayhawks first trip to the Marriott Center since a 91-57 victory for the Cougars on Feb. 18, 2025, the largest margin of victory over a ranked opponent in program history.
A trip to Tucson to face Arizona on Jan. 12 precedes the first of two games against Utah on Jan. 16 in Provo. The Cougars look to push their win streak over Iowa State to four games when they visit Hilton Coliseum on Jan. 20. They host West Virginia on Jan. 23 before heading to the Lone Star State to face TCU (Jan. 27) and Houston (Jan. 30).
BYU will play six of its seven games in February in the Mountain Time Zone, with Baylor coming to the Marriott Center on Feb. 2. The return trip to Salt Lake City to face Utah will take place on Feb. 6 before returning home to face Kansas State on Feb. 13.
A trip to Colorado on Feb. 17 is followed by a two-game homestand against TCU (Feb. 20) and Arizona (Feb. 22). The Cougars and Wildcats will face off on ESPN’s Big Monday for a second straight season.
The Cougars conclude conference play with two of their final three games on the road including a cross-country trip to UCF on Feb. 27. They are 2-0 all-time at Addition Financial Arena, including their first-ever Big 12 win on Jan. 13, 2024. They host Oklahoma State on March 2 before concluding the regular season at Texas Tech on March 5.
Women’s basketball’s Big 12 schedule finalized
IRVING, Texas — The Big 12 Conference announced the dates and opponents for BYU women’s basketball’s 2026-27 league schedule Thursday morning.
Coming off a 9-9 Big 12 record and a ninth-place finish in Lee Cummard’s inaugural season as head coach–both program bests since joining the conference in 2023–the Cougars enter their fourth season as members of the Big 12.
BYU opens conference play Dec. 19 against Arizona in Tucson, aiming for its first Big 12 victory over the Wildcats.
Following an 11-day break, Cummard and the Cougars return to the Marriott Center for their Big 12 home opener against Kansas State on Dec. 30, before hosting Houston on Jan. 2 to ring in the new year.
BYU travels to Waco on Jan. 6 to face Baylor, kicking off a seven-game stretch featuring six 2026 NCAA Tournament teams. The Cougars then return home to host Arizona State on Jan. 9, visit Colorado on Jan. 13, and host Oklahoma State on Jan. 16.
The Cougars head to Fort Worth on Jan. 23 to face TCU, an Elite Eight finisher in 2026, before returning to the Marriott Center on Jan. 27 against UCF, seeking a fourth consecutive regular-season win over the Knights.
BYU begins a two-game road swing at Texas Tech on Jan. 30 before renewing its rivalry with Utah in Salt Lake City on Feb. 3. The Cougars swept all three matchups against the Utes last season, including a victory in the second round of the Big 12 Tournament.
On Saturday, Feb. 6, Kansas visits Provo for a rematch of the WBIT semifinal, which BYU won 70-67 behind six second-half 3-pointers from Sydney Benally and Olivia Hamlin. The Cougars wrap up the homestand Feb. 10 against Arizona.
BYU hosts Iowa State on Feb. 13, seeking a second straight win over the Cyclones following an 83-69 victory in Provo last season, before facing Colorado for a second time on Feb. 16 at home.
The Cougars’ final road trip of the regular season begins Feb. 20 at Cincinnati and concludes with a matchup against West Virginia in Morgantown.
BYU closes out the regular season at home on Feb. 27 with a rivalry showdown against Utah.

Baseball schedules four fall exhibition games
BYU baseball head coach Trent Pratt has announced four fall exhibition matchups for the Cougars in October and November.
BYU will begin its fall exhibition schedule against Big 12 Conference rival Utah in South Jordan, Utah, at the Ballpark at America First Square, home of the Salt Lake Bees. First pitch is set for Friday, Oct. 2, at 4 p.m. MDT.
The Cougars and the Utes clashed four times during the 2026 regular season splitting the series 2-2. The longtime rivals have meet 288 times in baseball since the first recorded game on April 16, 1948. BYU holds a 256-131-1 series advantage.
BYU will then play host to Salt Lake Community College on Wednesday, Oct. 7, at Miller Park in Provo. The Bruins are coached by former BYU catcher DG Nelson who played for the Cougars from 1994-97.
For the final two exhibition matchups, the Cougars will travel out of state first stopping in Colorado to renew its former conference rivalry with Air Force on Saturday, Oct. 24, at Erdle Field at the USAF Academy. BYU and AFA have meet 172 times in baseball with the Cougars owning a 144-28 record. BYU won the last meeting between the two programs 20-5 on May 21, 2011, in Colorado Springs.
BYU will then head south to wrap up the 2026 fall exhibition schedule against UNLV in Las Vegas on Saturday, Nov. 7, at Earl E. Wilson Baseball Stadium. The Cougars and Rebels last met on May 5, 2026, in Las Vegas, with BYU winning 5-2.
Game times for the final three exhibition games will be announced later.
