Outlook: Football presents a number of challenges for American Leadership Academy and that has made it difficult for the Eagles to have consistent success.
New head coach Kyle Purvis understands those obstacles well, since he has been around the ALA program for the last five years.
“I’m a big family man,” Purvis said in a video posted on the school’s football webpage. “I have a wife and two sons, who I sure hope grow up playing football. Football to me is where we can have a family away from home. Every player matters.”
He doesn’t want to use the challenges as excuses for any individual or collective failure to be the best they can be.
“We are few in numbers, but as long as we’re in shape and work together we should be able to compete in every game,” Purvis said. “I expect the team to be disciplined and work hard together as a team.”
He expects the veterans to set the tone as they seek to increase their success on the field, but re-emphasized that he believes the key for his squad as it competes in the 2A North division in 2022 will be discipline and hard work.
The captains:: “Our captains were selected based upon effort, discipline, and leadership,” Purvis said. “Their job is to make sure we’re united as a team and quickly solve team issues.”
