Valley Top 5: Playoffs are looming on the horizon

Here’s a look at which high school teams have proven to be the best in Utah Valley in their respective sports so far in 2022:

FOOTBALL

1. Lehi (7-0)

Pioneers with a whopping 70 points vs Jordan — in first half.

2. Skyridge (6-1)

Still without McCae Hillstead, Falcons lost to Corner Canyon 21-17.

3. Timpview (5-1)

After week off, T-Birds at resurgent Orem on Friday.

4. Springville (6-1)

Held off Wasatch behind five Tevita Valeti TD runs.

5. American Fork (5-2)

Cavemen cap perfect homecoming with OT upset of Lone Peak.

GIRLS SOCCER

1. Lone Peak (14-0)

The Knights face another big test when it hosts American Fork Tuesday.

2. American Fork (12-2)

The Cavemen looking to avenge their earlier loss to Lone Peak.

3. Cedar Valley (12-2)

The Aviators couldn’t quite get past Stansbury but are well-situated for the 5A playoffs.

4. Timpanogos (10-4)

The Timberwolves found a way to beat Alta and controls its own destiny in Region 8.

5. Maple Mountain (10-4)

The Golden Eagles blasted past Springville and leads Region 9 by two games.

VOLLEYBALL

1. Mountain View (15-2)

Lucy Perez leads Bruins with 17 aces.

2. Timpview (8-4)

Sophomore Tiana Mariner filling in nicely at libero (112 digs).

3. Maple Mountain (13-2)

Golden Eagles haven’t dropped a set in Region 9 play (15-0).

4. Lone Peak (11-6)

Swept Corner Canyon and American Fork last week.

5. Skyridge (11-2)

Madison Standifird leading Falcons attack.
