While the smaller charter and private high schools in Utah Valley may not have the history or numbers of their larger counterparts, they still have athletes who work hard and want to win.

The boys soccer teams now know where they are seeded heading into the 2024 Class 2A tournament as the bracket and final RPI numbers came out on Wednesday.

Leading the way was top-seeded St. Joseph, which just edged out No. 2-seed American Heritage. The American Fork-based Patriots actually ended up with a better win-loss record (9-2 compared to 9-3) but St. Joseph had better opponent records to get the No. 1-seed.

The other Utah Valley team to get a first-round bye was Lindon-based Maeser, which finished 9-5 and secured the No. 6 seed.

The Lions and Patriots will wait until May 1 for their first playoff games, while the other four Utah Valley squads get started on Friday.

The only matchup of two Utah Valley teams will see Merit (the No. 12-seed) in Springville host Orem’s Telos (the No. 21-seed).

Freedom Prep in Provo is the No. 16 seed and gets to host No. 17-seeded Parowan, while No. 14-seed ALA in Spanish Fork welcomes No. 19-seed UMA Hill Field to town for their first-round match.

All of the games are scheduled to be played at 4 p.m.
