The Utah High School Activities Association (UHSAA) Board of Trustees met and adopted regions for 2025-27, with a few changes impacting Utah Valley high schools.

The assignment of member schools into regions was adopted on December 19 by the Board of Trustees. The first contests under the new alignment will take place in the fall of 2025.

Some of the biggest changes will be with the schools that had been in Class 6A’s Region 3.

While American Fork, Lehi, Lone Peak and Skyridge will remain the same, the fifth team will be Corner Canyon. The Chargers had been part of the region in previous realignments and now will return to what will likely be a powerhouse league in most sports.

Westlake, on the other hand, will be in Region 2 with western Salt Lake Valley schools Bingham, Copper Hills, Herriman, Mountain Ridge and Riverton. In addition, Cedar Valley will be part of that region as well as the Aviators move up from Class 5A.

Going the other direction is Pleasant Grove, which drops down from Class 6A to Class 5A. The Vikings will join a group of mostly southern Utah Valley schools in Region 7, which includes current region members Maple Mountain, Spanish Fork, Springville, Timpview and Wasatch.

Payson will move up from Class 4A to be a part of Region 7 as well, while Salem Hills will compete in the region in all sports but football (where they will be in Class 4A’s Region 8) and Orem will be a football and boys basketball-only member.

The Tigers will be in Region 8 for all other sports, a league that consists of Mountain View, Provo, Timpanogos and Uintah for all sports. In addition, Summit Academy will compete in the region in all sports but football, while Park City will be a football-only addition.

Juab will be the only area school in Class 3A for all sports, where it will be in the 3A South division for football and Region 14 for all other sports. American Heritage, which is in American Fork, will compete in 3A Region 12 for boys basketball.

The Patriots will be in Class 2A for its other sports, joining Utah County charter and private schools ALA and Maeser in Region 17. Freedom Prep, Merit, Rockwell and UMACW will also be in 2A, competing in Region 16.

For football, ALA will be in the 2A North region, while UMACW will play in the 8-player division.

The enrollment data upon which the alignment is based will be less than one year old. The UHSAA Board of Trustees retains the responsibility for alignment of all member schools.

A public hearing was held on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, to receive feedback from districts and schools on the placement of member schools into regions. In addition to the hearing, the UHSAA Board of Trustees received numerous emails regarding the realignment of member schools.
