Westlake knew it had a good chance to defend its state title in the co-ed division of competitive cheerleading in the 6A finals that took place at the UCCU Center in Orem on Wednesday night, but the Thunder knew they had to come out and perform.
And that’s exactly what they did.
Westlake proved to be the top co-ed team in their classification, sweeping the top spots in the show, cheer and dance categories on its way to repeating as state champs.
Lehi competed in the all-girl division, with head coach Jena Anderson being honored as the 6A Coach of the Year.
