Two Utah Valley schools won state titles at the 5A/4A state cheerleading finals at the UCCU Center on Friday but came from very different backgrounds in doing so.

The Salem Hills cheer team won its second-consecutive 5A title in the all-girls division, while the Cedar Valley co-ed team earned the school’s first-ever championship trophy by winning their division.

Eight area schools earned the right to compete in the 4A and 5A finals with five making it to the top five as Spanish Fork, Payson and Mountain View joined the Skyhawks and Aviators in having success at the event.
