Valley Top 5: Teams make final push with state tournaments on tap

BASEBALL
1. Maple Mountain (22-1)
Junior Cy Chrisman leads the state with 15 home runs, 40 RBI.
2. American Fork (18-4)
Cavemen have won five games in a row.
3. Pleasant Grove (18-4)
Drew Smith hitting an even .500 with 35 hits and 25 RBI for Vikings.
4. Timpanogos (18-7)
No. 4 seed T-Wolves open 4A tourney with No. 13 Pine View.
5. Provo (18-8)
4A Super Regionals bring long trip to No. 7 Bear River.

SOFTBALL
1. Salem Hills (21-4)
Skyhawks remain on top of rankings despite losses to Springville and Spanish Fork last week.
2. Lehi (17-8)
Pioneers are rounding into form, have won six straight including a 12-3 victory over PG.
3. Pleasant Grove (19-6)
Vikings won an extra-innings thriller over Westlake, and move past the Thunder in the rankings.
4. Westlake (17-6)
Thunder have lost two of three but still compete among the best in the Valley.
5. Payson (19-6)
Lions manage to hang on to No. 5 spot despite taking losses to Bear River and Uintah.

BOYS SOCCER
1. Lone Peak (15-2)
Knights were tested by AF and Skyridge last week, winning both matches 2-1.
2. Skyridge (12-5)
Falcons remain on Lone Peak’s heels after nearly pulling the upset last week.
3. Wasatch (14-2)
Wasps are in prime form after beating Springville and Cedar Valley by combined score of 12-0.
4. Orem (12-2)
Tigers look to be back on track following consecutive wins vs. Uintah and Timpanogos.
5. American Fork (10-4)
Cavemen had a rough week with losses to Lone Peak and Pleasant Grove.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL
1. Maple Mountain (25-1)
No. 1 seed seeks to defend 5A title this week.
2. Westlake (22-5)
Thunder earned No. 2 seed at this week’s 6A Tournament.
3. Orem (22-6)
Tigers begin redemption tour in 4A Tournament this week.
4. Lehi (16-4)
Pioneers have won three in a row and are No. 4 seed in 6A Tournament.
5. Wasatch (18-8)
Wasps check in as No. 3 seed in 5A Tournament.

BOYS LACROSSE
1. Skyridge (16-0)
Falcons were taken to the brink by Lone Peak but won 14-13 thriller for Region 3 title.
2. Lone Peak (11-4)
Knights maintain second spot in rankings led by formidable defense and top scorer Emmett Fenton.
3. Maple Mountain (11-5)
Golden Eagles rebounded from loss to powerhouse Brighton with convincing 15-3 win vs. Salem Hills.
4. Payson (12-4)
Lions paced by leading scorer Gary Bolton, who has amassed 92 total points this season.
5. Timpview (10-6)
Thunderbirds have won five of past six and appear to be a a contender again.

GIRLS LACROSSE
1. Salem Hills (15-1)
Skyhawks have won six in a row, with only loss this season to 6A Bingham.
2. Lone Peak (14-3)
Sadie Neueschwander with five goals in 16-10 victory vs. Skyridge.
3. Skyridge (13-3)
Falcons won first meeting with Lone Peak 13-8 on March 27.
4. Provo (12-2)
Bulldogs winning streak has reached 11 games.
5. Payson (8-7)
Lions surging, preparing for rematch with Timpanogos on Monday.
