Frank Bramall retired as athletic director at Timpanogos High School last spring after 26 years with the school.
He said he fully intended to attend a game sometime this fall but his wife, Monica, and school administrators convinced him to come for Friday night’s matchup with Salem Hills.
At halftime, Bramall was surprised to find out he was being honored by the school. Bramall was joined by members of his family, including several of his eight grandchildren, as he was awarded a plaque. School administrators also announced that on Friday nights, Timpanogos Field would be known as “Franklin J. Bramall Field,” though the Alpine School District wouldn’t officially endorse the move.
With a 69-31 overall record, Bramall is still the winningest coach in Timpanogos football history.
“I just love this community,” said Bramall, who in addition to coaching football and softball for many years was also called into active duty twice with the National Guard as an engineer, missing the 2003 football season. “This is my first game back,” Bramall said. “I was going to come to homecoming but my wife insisted I come tonight, so it was a surprise. I definitely miss all the people. It’s just such an honor.”
