Outlook: Dupaix’s experience is vast: He was a running backs coach at BYU for two years and worked at Navy for eight seasons in two different stints and was most recently the head coach at Southern Virginia University. Dupaix’s father Roger won eight state titles at Skyline and Joe Dupaix’s goal is to bring that kind of success to this charter school. He sees this season as a key foundational year.

“We’re going to make a difference, we’re going to develop men of character,” Dupaix said. “We’re going to build a culture based on love where you take care of each other, work hard for each other, show up on time for each other. Not just on the football field but everywhere in the community.”

Dupaix expects to run a traditional spread offense. This might surprise some as he has mostly worked and played in offenses where the running game was featured including the triple option attack.

“We’re going to throw the ball. We’re not going to run the triple (option),” said Dupaix.

On defense Dupaix expects to run a multiple look defense.

“We want a tenacious run and hit defense. If you play with high enough effort, you’re going to make some plays on defense,” added Dupaix.

ALA has never been a football juggernaut but Dupaix definitely wants to change that. ALA is building stronger connections with the other American Leadership Academy charters across the country and is definitely upgrading its athletic facilities and bringing a stronger commitment to its athletic programs.

There are 25 players returning from last season and obviously Dupaix wants to build up the Eagle numbers going forward.

“We have great kids in the program, we just need a bit more of them. And it begins with culture,” stated Dupaix.

What is your favorite team building activity? “I love service projects. It allows our players to show appreciation, selflessness, and it bring the team together,” Dupaix said.
