Daily Herald writers Darnell Dickson, Brandon Gurney and Brian E. Preece rank the top five Utah Valley teams in boys basketball, girls basketball, boys wrestling and girls wrestling for the week of Feb 2.

BOYS BASKETBALL

1. Timpview 17-2

Timpview dropped a tight 57-56 game to powerhouse Layton Christian, but still remain on top

2. Westlake 18-1

Westlake continues to excel on doing the little things in forging a stellar record on the season

3. American Fork 13-7

The Cavemen were tested by Lehi, but managed to come out on top 65-63

4. Orem 13-8

The Tiger appear to be back on track after four straight wins, including a 65-61 win over Springville

5. Lone Peak

A thrilling 62-56 overtime win over Corner Canyon has the Knights back in the rankings

GIRLS BASKETBALL

1. Pleasant Grove 19-0

Vikings have three more games to finish regular season undefeated.

2. Westlake 17-2

Avery Thompson, Ella Seymore keep Thunder on top of Region 2.

3. Wasatch 13-4

Wasps step up a class for meeting with 6A Bingham on Tuesday.

4. Maple Mountain 13-7

Golden Eagles (205 3-pointers) making a run at state record of 231 (Lone Peak, 2022-23).

5. Provo 14-7

Bulldogs, Bruins on Friday will likely decide Region 8 title.

1. Spanish Fork

Two-time 5A defending champs win their divisional tourney.

2. Wasatch

Wasps crown an impressive six champs at divisional tournament.

3. Timpanogos

Timberwolves win 4A Divisional B tourney.

4. Westlake

Thunder placed third behind Layton and Syracuse at their 6A Divisional.

5. Mountain View

Bruins were second in their 4A divisional behind Uintah.

1. Salem Hills

Skyhawks were second to Northridge in their 5A Divisional and crowned four individual champions.

2. Wasatch

Wasps won its 5A Divisional and look to challenge for their third straight 5A crown.

3. Cedar Valley

Aviators best rival Westlake to win its Divisional tourney.

4. Westlake

Thunder’s Tevia Rarick a perfect 39-0 with 39 pins. 

5. Springville

Red Devils are a top five threat in 5A wrestling.
