The Lone Peak boys swimming team is back on top.
The Knights won four straight state 6A titles from 2017-20 and on Saturday nabbed another gold trophy to add to the case, outscoring Mountain Ridge 315 to 302 at the BYU Pool.
Xander Berg claimed the 50 and 100 freestyle titles but Lone Peak still needed to win the 400 freestyle relay, the meet’s final event, to clinch the championship. Berg anchored the team that included Jason Dumas, Asher Topham and Beck Johnson in a 6A state-record time of 3:10.19.
The Knights also set a new 6A state record in the 200 freestyle relay, a time of 1:25.21.
Westlake’s Porter Wilde swam 57.82 in the 100 breaststroke to win an individual state championship for the Thunder.
Wasatch, which along with Brighton had petitioned the UHSAA to be moved up from 5A to 6A for the 2026 and 2027 competition, won the 6A girls team title in dominating fashion, winning three relays and six of the eight individual disciplines. The Wasps scored 311 points, with Skyridge in second (257) and Lone Peak third (251.5). The team title by Wasatch ended a streak of five straight state championships by the Knights.
Ana Deidrichs (100 free, 100 back) and Kasenya Keller (200 free, 500 free) were double individual winners for the Wasps and Reece Andrews set a 6A state record in the 100 butterfly (56.96).
5A Meet
Olympus dominated the 5A meet, winning both the girls and boys titles.
The Titans scored a whopping 406 points to claim the girls championship, with Timpview third at 233 and Springville fourth at 168.
Timpview’s Camryn Tanton (100 breaststroke) and Hannah Quinn (50 freestyle) were individual title winners and Springville sophomore Aulia Leauanae won two events (200 freestyle, 100 backstroke).
Timpview was third in the boys competition (232 points). T-Bird junior Everett Bushman won the 50 freestyle race in a time of 21.44.
