Player of the Year
Ashton Shewell, 6-4 Jr. OH, Lehi
Shewell led the state with 511 kills (5.4 per set), 10th in the country according to MaxPreps. He hit .416 with totaling 29 aces, 53 total blocks, 264 digs (2.8 per set) and 534 receptions (5.7).
Offensive MVP
Nick Nelson, 6-5 Sr. OH, Mountain View
Nelson was the go-to hitter for the Bruins, who won the 4A state title. Nelson finished with 342 kills (3.7 per set) and hit .224 with 22 aces, 24 total blocks, 115 digs (1.2 per set) and 436 receptions (4.7).
Defensive MVP
Taft Hillman, 6-8 Sr. S, Maple Mountain
Hillman was a huge force for the Golden Eagles in his third year as a starter. He ended up with 902 assists (10.3 per set) along with 91 kills (hitting .340) with 30 aces, 77 total blocks and 130 digs (1.5 per set).
Co-Coaches of the Year: Kolby Shewell, Lehi and Jon Fairbanks, Mountain View
Shewell’s team wasn’t the 6A favorite heading into the season, with much of the attention on defending state champ Bingham and a loaded Lone Peak team. But the Pioneers just kept getting better and peaked with a 6A title. Fairbanks has been with Mountain View boys volleyball 15 years, well before the UHSAA sanctioned the sport in 2024. This season he managed a senior-laden team that knew how to win and the Bruins took the 4A title.
First Team All-Valley
Jace Andersen Jr. OH, Spanish Fork
Anderson had 323 kills (3.6 per set) and hit .232 with 33 total blocks and 193 digs.
McKay Beattie 5-10 So. L, Maple Mountain
Beattie was easily one of the top liberos in the state and had 281 digs (3.2 per set), 336 receptions (3.8) and 32 aces.
Chase Billeter 6-5 Sr. OH, Wasatch
Billeter was an offensive force with 286 kills (3.5 per set) along with 30 total blocks and 165 digs.
Nate Burton 6-4 Sr. S, Wasatch
Burton operated one of the state’s top offenses with 751 assists (9.4 per set) along with 27 aces, 65 total blocks and 148 digs.
Jonny Dustin 6-2 Sr. OPP, Lehi
Dustin was a great option for the Pioneers with 297 kills (3.2 per set) and had 21 aces, 26 total blocks and 252 digs.
Joey Hansen Sr. OH, Timpanogos
Hansen came to play every night and finished with 400 kills (4.0 per set) and hit .273 with 23 aces and 187 digs.
Abe Hawkins 6-7 Jr. MB, Maple Mountain
Hawkins dominated the middle with 191 kills (2.3 per set) and hit .500 while adding 39 total blocks.
Blake Hemstreet 6-9 Sr. MB, Lone Peak
Hemstreet ended the season with 67 total blocks to go along with 131 kills, hitting .328.
Brady Holt 6-2 Jr. OH, Lone Peak
Holt led a potent Knights attack with 299 kills (3.3 per set) and hit .349, adding 23 aces, 30 total blocks and 109 digs.
Henry Hulse 5-8 Sr. L, Mountain View
Hulse’s acrobatic play was a highlight for the Bruins with 183 digs (2.1 per set), 259 receptions and 34 aces.
Peter Jacobson 6-6 Sr. OH, American Heritage
Jacobson helped lead the Patriots to the 2A title match with 282 kills (3.7 per set) with 47 aces, 32 total blocks and 125 digs.
Garret Kilgrow 6-3 Jr. OH, Springville
Kilgrow topped the Red Devils with 258 kills (3.2 per set), 39 aces and 359 receptions.
Adam Maya 6-0 Sr. S, Mountain View
Maya steadied the Bruins attack and finished with 888 assists (9.3 per set) to go with 41 aces, 27 total blocks and 123 digs.
Ty Reynolds 6-0 Jr. S, Lehi
Reynolds got the ball to all the right places with 1,133 assists (12.1 per set) to go with 31 aces, 38 total blocks and 142 digs.
