Daily Herald writers Darnell Dickson and Brandon Gurney rank the top five Utah Valley teams in baseball, boys soccer, softball, boys volleyball, boys lacrosse and girls lacrosse for the final time in spring 2026.

BASEBALL

1. Spanish Fork 30-5

Dons prevailed in loaded Class 5A for second straight state title.

2. American Fork 24-8

Cavemen go back-to-back in 6A for lucky 13th state championship.

3. Maple Mountain 27-9

Golden Eagles put up a great fight in pushing Spanish Fork to limit in 5A finals.

4. Pleasant Grove 22-9

Pitching trio of Nordick, Henry and Huntsman kept Vikings near the top.

5-tie Timpanogos 23-6

T-Wolves had great regular season but couldn’t get past St. George schools in 4A tourney.

5-tie Skyridge 19-14

Falcons made a great run to 6A finals before running into American Fork.

BOYS SOCCER

1. Lone Peak 18-1

Knights finally broke through and took the 6A state championship with a 3-1 win over Farmington.

2. Maple Mountain 15-6

Golden Eagles surprised many in making a run clear to the 5A state championship where it lost narrowly to Bountiful.

3. Skyridge 11-7

Perhaps no one played No. 1 Lone Peak tougher this season than the Falcons, who advanced clear to the quarterfinal round.

4. Pleasant Grove 18-1

Vikings were stunned by Hillcrest in the quarterfinal round, losing their only game of the entire season in a shootout.

5. Maeser Prep 20-0

Dominant throughout the season, the Lion’s senior-laden team saved its very best for the end in taking the 2A state title.

SOFTBALL 

1. Salem Hills 32-2

Skyhawks held down the No. 1 seed from the first week of the season until the very end when it completed their season with a state championship.

2. Lehi 25-8

Pioneer pitching took a hit in the state championship due to injury and played big in losing to out to Mountain Ridge.

3. Spanish Fork 25-9

Watch out for the sophomore-heavy Dons, who came up just short of advancing to the 5A state championship round.

4. Springville 22-11

Overshadowed throughout most of the regular season, the Red Devils made a lot of noise in the postseason.

5. Maple Mountain 22-10

Golden Eagles were solid throughout the season and held their own in the state tournament.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

1. Lehi 26-2

What Pioneers did to top seed Bingham in Set 4 of 6A finals was incredible.

2. Wasatch 25-2

Wasps were dominant all season but fell just short in 5A finals to Bountiful.

3. Mountain View 25-5

Bruins seniors created one of the best stories in high school sports with 4A title.

4. Maple Mountain 23-6

Led by 6-foot-8 Taft Hillman, Golden Eagles were a difficult opponent every time out.

5. Lone Peak 23-8

Talented Knights couldn’t quite put it together during 6A state tournament.

BOYS LACROSSE

1. Skyridge 19-2

Upset of perennial power Corner Canyon in 6A finals was story of the spring.

2. Wasatch 16-3

Overtime loss to East in 5A quarterfinals was a heartbreaker.

3. Timpview 15-4

Sophomore Aidan Dutson’s 99 points (69 goals, 30 assists) was third in Class 5A.

4. Pleasant Grove 14-6

Vikings put up some great highlights in 2026, including a 13-5 upset of Timpview.

5. Westlake 11-8

Thunder started fast but ran into Corner Canyon in 6A second round.

GIRLS LACROSSE 

1. Skyridge 2o-2

Falcons lost another tough one in the state championship to upset an otherwise magical season.

2. Provo 19-3

Bulldogs are on the rise and advanced clear to the state championship where to lost out to 5-time defending powerhouse Bear River.

3. Lone Peak 15-6

Knights enjoyed a successful season yet still couldn’t get past Region 3 foe Skyridge.

4. Salem Hills 16-5

Skyhawks showed a lot of promise in advancing clear to the 5A state semifinal round.

5. Timpanogos 12-6

Timberwolves accomplished their goal of advancing to play at Westminster College in the state semifinal round.
