Lone Peak duo tops Region 3 Girls Basketball awards

Lone Peak’s Peyton Warner and Lave Holdcraft earned the top awards for Region 3 girls basketball, as voted on by the league’s coaches.

Warner, a 5-foot-9 freshman, was named the Region 3 MVP after averaging 11.2 points and leading the Knights with 31 3-pointers in her first season of high school basketball playing for her mother, Nancy Warner.

Holdcraft, a 5-10 senior, earned Most Outstanding Player honors after averaging 7.5 points, 9.3 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game for Lone Peak.

Despite losing BYU signee Kennedy Woolston to a season-ending knee injury after 11 games the Knights (16-11) won Region 3 with a 7-1 record and advanced to their fifth straight 6A finals. Lone Peak fell short of winning its fifth consecutive state title, Bingham earning a 49-33 victory.
