Springville junior Jamyn Sondrup goes up for a layup during the 5A quarterfinal game against Brighton at the Huntsman Center in Salt Lake City on Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2025.

Springville’s Jamyn Sondrup wants to be a Boilermaker.

The 6-foot-9 center declared his commitment to Big 10 school Purdue on Friday. Sondrup, a four-star recruit, was a four-year starter for Justin Snell and the Red Devils. He scored 1,651 points, grabbed 983 rebounds and totaled 124 blocks in his high school career. As a senior, Sondrup averaged 18.5 points, 12.4 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game.

Sondrup chose the Boilermakers over Washington, Arizona State, BYU and Cal, among others.

“Just looking at the success they have had over the past years, I could tell that the school and Coach (Matt) Painter knew how to win and how to develop their players into their best selves,” Sondrup told 24/7 Sports. “I feel like I built a very strong connection with all of the staff members, especially Coach PJ Thompson. He’s always checking up on me and making sure I’m good, and it really makes me feel like I’m part of the family.”

Starting at $4.32/week.
